“Listen, Obey, and Teach=A Good Life” Deuteronomy 6 The Bible gives us the commandments, ordinances, and statues which we are to learn and do. The Lord instructs us to teach them to our children (Deuteronomy 6:7). Write these commandments that I’ve given you today on your hearts. Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning to when you fall into bed at night. Tie them on your hands and foreheads as a reminder; inscribe them on the doorposts of your homes and on your city gates. (Deut. 6:6-9 The Message) · Search the scripture. Believe and depend in the Lord of the Bible. · Ask for wisdom. Live what you believe. · Talk and pray with your children and those around your dinner table about their concerns in light of God’s Word. · Give your children precepts and promises of God’s Word so they may believe, live, and walk on its unshakeable foundation. · Attend with your children a Sunday School and church that teaches and believes God’s Word. · Read and discuss books by good authors: Lucado, Swindoll, Beth Moore and others who unashamedly present God’s Word as Truth. · Confront half truths and lies that are being taught as science. · Teach and equip your children to discern untruths they encounter in media, education, and people who create their own gods. · Ask for forgiveness as needed; always forgive others as needed. · Make the home a safe place which one day will be seen in the light of history.
